The YOS test is an entrance/acceptance exam for foreign students who have a high school certificate and want to enroll in Turkish universities.
This test allows students to study majors like Medicine, Law, Psychology, Pharmacy, Engineering, etc.

What does the YOS test consist of?

It consists of three main parts: Math, Geometry, and general thinking abilities.

  1. Usually, the number of questions is 80 to 100 depending on each university:
    • Math 30-45
    • Geometry 5-15
    • IQ questions 40-60
  2. Some universities might add other materials to the exam like Physics, Chemistry, or problem solving, and that’s depending on each university’s decision. The materials are announced on the universities’ websites.
  3. The exam’s duration is usually around 90-130 minutes.
  4. Some universities might also conduct a Turkish language exam together with the YOS exam, where later the student is exempted from the Turkish language exam while registering at the university.
  5. The YOS test’s language is primarily Turkish; however, many universities offer it in different languages: English, Arabic, German, etc. The language is selected during the registration.
  6. Universities adopt a multiple-question format for exams. All questions have the same value when graded. However, some universities delete 1 correct answer for every 4 wrong answers.

Registration, fees, and exam locations for YOS:

  • Registration for some YOS exams extends from January to May, while some exams are held between April and the end of June each year, where each university plans its registration period and further details.
  • The locations are selected by the university and extend to various areas inside and outside of Turkey.
  • Students choose the exam center during their registration based on their preferences.
  • To enter the YOS exam all you have to do is be in Turkey, some universities have exam centers outside Turkey.
  • We can’t exactly determine the fees for the YOS exam because it changes depending on each university and country – if the exam is conducted abroad.
  • To inform exam candidates about final prices, we can presume that prices range from 10 to 150$. In addition, payments are done by transferring the money to the university’s bank account or via Credit Card payments.

Passing the YOS exam:

YOS has a minimum score that a candidate must obtain to apply to the university with a YOS test score.
This score is called a specific score and is usually between 40-70 depending on the university.
