Selcuk Yasar Institution for sports and education decided to create Yasar University in 1999.
The Yasar Companies group, known for its leadership and contribution to the Turkish economy, wants to create a modern university.
Law No. 4633 was passed by the Turkish National Assembly on March 29, 2001, when the university was born. Education began at the Alsancak headquarters in the 2002-2003 academic year.
Campus:
The Selcuk Yasar Campus is located in the Izmir region of Bornova and serves as the main campus of Yasar University.

Strategic direction:
An education group defined Yasar University’s vision. Accordingly, the university will integrate technology and science, focus on technology and integrate it into the international education system. The group decided on a roadmap, according to which the new administrations, needs, and trends of the community were evaluated. This represents the university’s business plan.
The organization:
- Yasar University is divided into seven undergraduate faculties that have 25 academic programs.
- The graduate programs consist of two graduate schools: the graduate school of social sciences and the graduate school of natural and applied sciences.
- The graduate schools have 22 different master’s and Ph.D. programs.
The Faculty of Foreign Languages at Yasar University provides a preparatory year of English for students who need it. Other languages taught at the foreign language school include Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, French, and Portuguese. Yasar University is the first in Turkey to have its language school accredited by the Commission for English Language Programs Accreditation (CEA).
Sports Center:
Yasar University Sports Center facilities provide a variety of physical activities to keep students healthy. The sports center includes a Gymnasium, tennis courts, a dance studio, volleyball, and basketball courts. The Sports Center organizes fitness training, club sports, indoor tournaments, ladder tournaments, educational programs, and seminars.
Electronic information and documentation center:
This center adds to the university’s educational and research mission at the national and international levels.
Students have access to a variety of sources, including audio-visual materials, magazines, and newspapers. Furthermore, the center is classified according to the Library of Congress classification system.
Electronic resources include more than 50,000 e-books and 25 databases of up to 19,000 e-journals.
Media Center:
Yasar University hosts a high-technology media center. It is the first Turkish university in which television and radio studios broadcast in high definition. The media center produces regular radio and television programs in multiple languages and allows Yasar University students to have practical experiences using high-quality equipment.
Student life:
Campus life: Our campus is an academic district operating with international standards in terms of providing students with a natural environment and physical space. To provide the physically challenged students with an environment in which they can move easily, there are elevators and ramp mechanisms on campus.
Services:
- Student services: The Selcuk Yasyu-Kampuste-Yasamar campus includes studios, workplaces, and special labs for every department in addition to classrooms equipped with the latest technology. Student clubs founded by students are active in the fields of culture, art, and sports so that students can make good use of their free time in social and economic activities.
- Housing services: The newly built halls of residence are located within a five-minute walk of the university campus. They provide students with a safe and comfortable environment in addition to providing entertainment options during their study years. The buildings accommodate about 400 students. All rooms (Double or triple bed options) are furnished to the highest standards with students’ needs in mind.
- Library Services: The information center was established to support education and research programs at Yasar University and to cover the information and documentation needs of students at the national and international levels. In addition, books and articles from local and international universities are provided.
- Information and Communication Technology Services: Wireless internet is provided in every part of the campus. The conversion of documents related to official documents is also carried out via the internet. To reduce paper consumption, advertisements are issued on our campus through digital advertisement screens at certain locations.
- Medical Services: Health services at the university are provided by the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports. Yasar University’s Health Center is the first application point for students with any kind of health problem.
