Near East University
Near East University, located in Nicosia the capital of North Cyprus, was founded in 1988.
As an international higher education institution employing highly qualified staff, it offers the broadest undergraduate and postgraduate education opportunities to more than 26,000 students from more than 100 countries.
Near East University has 20 faculties, 220 departments and programs, 8 graduate schools with about 218 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, 3 high schools, 28 research institutes, and many international members.
About the university:
The university is already a member of the European Universities Association (EUA), the International Association of Universities (IAU) within UNESCO, the International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP), the Joint Commission International (JCI), the Federation of Universities in the Islamic World (FUIW), and 118 national institutions and organizations. Moreover, many membership applications related to various majors are already underway.
Near East University stands out as a small educational city in the center of Cyprus and has many firsts in Cyprus.
Faculty of Medicine: It is the only medical school in North Cyprus.
Faculty of Dentistry: It is the first and only faculty in North Cyprus.
Dental clinics: these are the first private dental clinics accredited by the Joint Commission International in the world.
The supercomputer is one of the most advanced and powerful computers in the world with the potential to support much international research and academic studies around the world, including the CERN project.
The Great Library: the largest and most comprehensive library in the eastern Mediterranean region with more than one million printed items and 115 million electronic resources, where many national and international conferences are held.
Near East University Hospital: the most advanced research and training hospital in the eastern Mediterranean region.
Faculty of Pharmacy: the first and only Faculty of Pharmacy in North Cyprus.
Near East University students are provided with comprehensive facilities and opportunities on campus, such as sports stadiums, shops, restaurants, dormitories with a capacity of 5,000 people, health and fitness centers, hospitals, cafes, student clubs, radio and television, library, Olympic swimming pool, National and international banks, travel agencies, post office, scheduled buses that travel between the city and the airport from early morning until late at night, 24-hour security, and health services.
Since its inception, Near East University which primarily aims to educate self-confident, highly qualified, dedicated, and determined individuals, has made incredible progress and transformed into the largest higher education institution and cultural center in Cyprus.

The Near East University adheres to the constitutional principles of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and has the vision to be an institution of higher education by the general goals and basic principles of the Turkish national educational system.

Cultural and social activities:
Ataturk Cultural Center and Akkem Convention Center – AKKM – have been uniquely designed and equipped with the latest technology to serve all kinds of national and international conferences, seminars, meetings, conferences, and cultural activities. Besides having excellent architecture and technical infrastructure, the center includes four conference halls, one large auditorium, two theatres, and an art gallery with supporting service units. In addition, it is equipped with central heating systems and contains a television studio, simultaneous translation rooms, administrative offices, changing rooms, make-up rooms, and decoration rooms.
Near East University provides social and cultural activities at the same time. It also contributes to the productivity of science in TRNC. In addition to having 700 seats, the Great Hall was designed and built with a proscenium to be suitable for concerts, theatre, opera, cinema, and ballet performances.
Ataturk Culture and Convention Center – Near East University, has the honor of hosting all kinds of social and sports activities with its innovative technologies, located in an area away from the noisy environment of the city. The auditoriums and stands are designed with infrastructural technology, including central heating and cooling systems.
Healthcare:
The Health and Safety Center at Near East University is fully equipped with various sports equipment and has an area of about 2000 square meters.
Besides, it features a healthy environment with guidance provided by qualified physical trainers and also available doctors from the Health Unit, based in the Health and Safety Centre. Then, a qualified crew prepares programs and meals according to the needs of individuals and is assisted by a medical team.
