The Marmara Educational Foundation was established in 1991, under the slogan “From Kindergarten to University” by Huseyin Şimşek, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. Istanbul Marmara Educational Foundation (İMEV) was established in 1996, and Maltepe University in 1997.

The University of Maltepe, which was established by Law 4282 on July 9, 1997, is a public legal entity subject to the provisions of Law 2547 and the regulations relating to educational institutions and higher education institutions.
At the university, education services are provided in 9 faculties, a conservatory, a graduate institute, 3 schools, and a vocational school. The university seeks to contribute to Turkish and world sciences through scientific research and research publications.
